For MPESA paybill transactions, the account number will be the service paid for e.g., "Phytosanitary Certificate". New clients received credit based service for twenty (20) days, thereafter, an invoice is issued, and a grace period of ten (10) days is given to pay; failure to which, the fee will be deducted from the KES 15,000 deposit of expected future phytosanitary certificates. However, for a one off export, the trader is required to pay for the phytosanitary certificate at the point of issue.

Additional information

Payments can be made at the KEPHIS headquarters, KEPHIS JKIA accounts office and KEPHIS regional offices. The waiting time before obtaining the phytosanitary certificate ranges between 1-3 hours depending on the workload of the officers.
