Additional information

Motor vehicles originating from countries outside the EAC region arriving without a certificate of roadworthiness from the country of origin will be subject to a destination inspection fee of 15% of the customs value by Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
For motor vehicles originating from the EAC region arriving without a certificate of roadworthiness will also be subject to a destination inspection fee where traders will be required to pay whichever is higher of $265.00 or 0.6% of the customs value with a maximum fee payable of $2,700. In such cases, KEBS will issue a demand note.
