Additional information
Consignments originating from countries outside the EAC region that arrive without a Certificate of Conformity will be subject to destination inspection which attracts a fee of 20% of the customs value of the consignment.
For re - exports, consignments arriving without a certificate of conformity will also be subject to destination inspection where traders will be required to pay whichever is higher of $265.00 or 0.6% of the customs value with a maximum fee payable of $2,700. This is subject to approval by the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives.
In such cases, KEBS will issue a demand note.
